Our Nutcracker Experience

We went to see the Nutcracker as a family yesterday. To be honest, when we walked in we were kind of shocked. We expected to see theatre seating and a stage. Instead, we walked into this room with barely anywhere to sit and screens everywhere. We sadly didn't know what "Immersive" meant. I am 42 years old and I guess I was out of the loop. So was my husband and kids.

I can't lie and say the experience was great. There was nowhere to sit, so we sat on the floor. The screens going around everywhere were a bit overwhelming for us. At first, I thought it was just me. After about ten minutes I asked my kids who looked pretty bummed what their thoughts were. They wanted to leave. My husband really wanted to wait it out because we traveled pretty far to see it. He started getting a little sick as well. The screens going off everywhere was just a little too much for all of us and we had to go. We think if the seats were spread out in a circle in one big room and everyone could sit around it then it would have been better. It was like sitting at a movie theatre on the floor in front of the tv. It was just too much for all of us.

I just want everyone to be aware that is going that IMMERSIVE means: "a computer display or system generating a three-dimensional image which appears to surround the user"  -- (However because of the way the seating was we didn't feel it surrounded us)

We had to leave early sadly. After about 20 minutes. Lots of other people were leaving too. Kids were running around every where because there was no where to sit. It was just really awkward. I saw the Nutcracker with performers before and it was great. If this sounds like something you would like to experience for yourself you can get tickets below!
