I’ve been to a dusty, old, historical wax museum before—Hollywood Wax Museum was definitely NOT that. It was even fun for a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old. Just by the looks of the outside of the building you could tell this wasn’t going to be your ordinary wax museum.

William, in fact, was so frightened of King Kong that he didn’t want to go near the building!

One of the first wax figures you see as you enter are Jennifer Aniston and Mathew McConaughey (Side note: My mom was one of those people on Facebook to think that Mathew McConaughey actually broke down in a nearby hometown. I had to explain to her about fake news stories).

Many of the displays had costumes and props that you could use to become part of the picture.

Although the boys didn’t really know who most of the people were (especially Hef), they still had fun dressing up!

The Hollywood Wax Museum has so much more to offer than just the wax experience. There is also Hannah’s Mirror Maze, Shoot For the Stars Mini-Golf and the 5D Castle of Chaos ride (we skipped the ride assuming the boys were too young).

David really got into the story that set up Hannah’s Mirror Maze adventure. She had been tricked by a witch and needed us to save her.

Unfortunately, David and I became separated from William and Dad (Dad being the only one who can ever make it out of any maze). That left David and I circling through what I believe to be the same tiny loop of the maze. Eventually we kept coming back to the witch which scared David until he started crying and we had to get out quickly through the entrance. That’s right, I can’t make it through a maze designed for kids. Yes, I know even mice can make it through a maze but I can’t! The maze wasn’t that scary and I think if we would have seen it once or twice and moved on it wouldn’t have brought David to tears. But being lost and abandoned by Dad did him in.
