*I received a complimentary stay at Beaver Run but all opinions are my own.
Top 5 reasons why you should stay at Beaver Run in Breckenridge
One of my favorite places to visit in Colorado is Breckenridge and whether you are a local or out of town reader, this is honestly an amazing place to visit over the summer. The town is under 2 hours from Denver and since we are local we can even make it a day trip.
We have been visiting Breckenridge ever since I was little but never in the summer. But after this trip, we will make it a yearly tradition. The hardest part about booking any vacation is deciding where to stay. For us, we normally want a centrally located place that is affordable and that is exactly what Beaver Run is. Part of the place is ski-in ski-out which means during the winter it is literally steps away from the mountain. This hotel/condo has everything you need and more. We barely had to leave the complex because there was so much to do on site. One of my favorite things about Beaver Run is the fact that it has hotel amenities while at the same time has the homey feel of a condo. There is daily maid service but each condo is owned by different people so each condo has it’s own feel. Here are my 5 top reasons why you should stay at Beaver Run.
The first day we arrived we passed the arcade and our kids pleaded with us to check it out. They have a fun arcade for the kids and an indoor mini putt putt all in 1 room which is just steps away from the pool and hot tub and fitness center.
We spent HOURS in the arcade and I didn’t mind since they had vending machines for me to enjoy ;-) You can earn tickets at each game and redeem them at a self-service prize machine which I thought was awesome. So the kids got to play fun games and received prizes with their tickets.
After the arcade we suited up to check out the pool. The pool is an indoor/outdoor pool with half of it inside and half outside. The fitness center overlooks the pool as well as the sauna and steam room. We literally went swimming twice a day. The pool wasn’t ever too crowded either.
We brought the whole family along on the trip but I think this resort is great for empty nesters, honeymooners (our friends told me this is where they honeymooned), bachelorette celebrations (there was one next door to our condo) or couples celebrating their anniversary. We celebrated 10 years this year and this place was a great place to celebrate even WITH kids!
The hot tubs had to be one of my favorite things to enjoy. They have tons of little hot tubs all in a line so there was never a wait. Plus the hot tubs overlook the mountain so it was a gorgeous view.
There is also hiking and running trails right outside the condo so you can access those right on site.
Our condo had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and nice size living room. I LOVED the full kitchen because we cooked every single meal for 3 days.
For our meals we cooked, tacos, Sloppy Joes, and pizza. There is a little market right on site where you can get any food you need or fresh baked pizzas. Since we live close to Denver I was able to bring all my ingredients on our trip with me. For example, we had Sloppy Joes one night. So I put all the spices and dry ingredients in a ziploc bag. There was no need to bring full size spice jars or bags of brown sugar because I pre-measured everything before we left.
Sloppy Joes had to be the easiest thing I made because all I needed was my bag of already mixed ingredients, buns, ground beef and olive oil. I got the olive oil in downtown Breckenridge at Olive Fusion. I got the chipotle infused oil and it added a little extra kick to the Sloppy Joes.
If you're in Breckenridge, you must visit this place! Not only do they have special olive oils but I was enamored with the flavored sugars! I bought the cherry and lemon sugars. Not only will they make your desserts taste good in a new way but the sugars are so beautifully colored they will also make them look stunning.
Here is my recipe for our Sloppy Joe’s I made at Beaver Run. They were so easy and you literally cannot get a better view outside your condo in Breckenridge!
Sloppy Joe recipe:
First brown the ground beef in butter and cook until no longer pink. Drain the fat.
Add onions, green pepper, and garlic. Cook for a few minutes, or until vegetables are translucent.
Add ketchup, brown sugar, chili pepper, dry mustard, and water. Stir to combine and simmer for 15 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste. Also add tomato paste, Worcestershire, and salt and pepper.
Spoon over buns.
If you want to go into town or need a ride, Beaver Run also has a shuttle so you can call them right before you need to be somewhere and they will pick you up. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a shuttle to pick us up which is nice with 4 kids. When we went downtown to get my olive oil, when we were done shopping, all we had to do was call the shuttle driver and tell him what stop we were at. There are signs like this brown sign all over town to tell you what stop you are out so it is easy to get to and from the resort.
If you don’t feel like cooking, you can enjoy the buffet at Spencer’s. I ate there for lunch and it was delicious! I also heard their breakfast buffet is great too plus you can also order off their menu. But if you just need a few ingredients, cereal, milk or pizza you can check out the Skywalk Market. Plus the market has a full service deli!
We really enjoyed our stay at Beaver Run and will stay there again when we return. I will be doing a guest blog on the Beaver Run blog in a few weeks. So check it out because I will blog about what other things we did in town while in Breckenridge. Most people come to Colorado for the skiing but we are hooked on Colorado’s summers. It sure is nice to come home to a place to rest your head after a long day of playing that feels like home.
