Ice Castles in Cripple Creek, CO Opens Tomorrow

Cripple Creek, Colorado | January 9, 2026 – After historic warm temperatures in December, the frozen gates will open at Colorado’s most popular winter attraction. Magic returns to Cripple Creek as Ice Castles officially opens for the season Tomorrow, Saturday, January 10 at noon.

Ice Castles was nearly complete in mid December when a historic warm-up temporarily halted ice growing. Cold temperatures returned just after Christmas allowing Ice artisans to begin working around the clock to prepare the attraction for opening day.

Beginning Saturday, January 10, guests will be able to step into magic and wonder with a landscape filled with ice slides, towers, tunnels and caverns. Explore stunning new sculptures crafted by internationally renowned ice sculptors. Every element is designed to immerse visitors in a whimsical, fairy-tale environment.

The icy fortress also features a frosty twist with the Frozen Tap Ice Bar, the coolest spot in town to enjoy chilled beverages in a one-of-a-kind ice bar experience. Guests can also warm up with warm beverages and indulgent sweet treats from our on-site concessions.
