The amazing Discovery Center Museum, in Rockford, IL, is full of over 250 exciting hands-on exhibits spread over a two-floor area. Out in the museum's backyard, visitors can explore Rock River Discovery Park, a giant, multi-level science park with a hands-on twist! The museum also hosts traveling exhibits, special events and programs throughout the year.
We spent the afternoon at Discovery Center Museum and my children were filled with knowledge. This little hidden gem of a museum in Rockford, IL has so much to offer children. I couldn't get my children out of stations to move on to the next station, they were have so much fun. FUN! Learning is so much fun at the Discovery Center Museum. They are begging to return next week. You will not be disappointed.
My children loved the Nano exhibit the most. Magnetite sand and powder and non-sized ferro fluid had my children working hard to figure out these amazing stations. They even built a carbon nano tube. We all converted energy into electricity, figured out who could throw the fastest pitch, named organs and bones (of which I was delighted my homeschooled kids knew all!) and this was all on the second floor. We had not even been on the first floor yet. I finally was able to get my kiddos downstairs and there was more learning. the body and window bubble station was a big hit and we finished off our day making horn husk dolls. There is so much more that we did, but you will have to get yourself to Discovery Center Museum to make your own discoveries.
