His job is done here at the Most Texan Place on Earth for the 2025 Fair season. Big Tex® wrapped up his 73rd year as the official State Fair of Texas greeter during the final weekend of the 2025 Fair. After welcoming more than two million fairgoers over 24 days, it is time to say so long to everyone’s favorite 55-foot-tall cowboy. Open and free to the public, please join us to say so long to our beloved Big Tex as he is taken down on Wednesday, October 22, starting at 10:00 a.m. in Big Tex Circle. 

WHAT: Big Tex leaves his home in Big Tex Circle for the year. 

WHEN: Wednesday, October 22, starting at 10:00 a.m.  

WHERE: Big Tex Circle at Grand Avenue and Lone Star Boulevard in Fair Park. Parking is available at Gate 3. 

WHO: Anyone who would like to say farewell to Big Texfor the year. Representatives from the State Fair of Texas will also be available for interviews.
