The Harlem Globetrotters came to Nashville, TN – and as always, they put on quite a show!
We have seen the Harlem Globetrotters several years in a row now and they never disappoint! When they are in Nashville, they play at Bridgestone Arena. We love this because Nashville is HUGE and parking can be really hard to find and walking around Nashville trying to find the lot you parked in can be a little difficult. Bridgestone Arena has their own parking garage connected directly to their building. We were able to park in their garage last year, but they made changes to that this year. You had to be a pass holder to the garage in order to park there. Luckily we found a parking garage right outside of Bridgestone and we were able to find a great spot there.
As soon as you walk into the building, you are immediately greeted with music and smiling faces. We got to our seats and my husband went to grab our food for the show. We usually end up with some pizza or giant pretzels but this year we decided to go with hotdogs and nachos with salsa and cheese sauce. We also decided to head to the merchandise section before the show started to avoid the super long lines afterward. That was definitely a good direction to go in.
The arena is completely lit up and the environment is such a fun space to be in! They have the gift shop open for those early shoppers and plenty of events going on during the pre-show. Once the games actually start, you are introduced to the DJ and the host as well as the coaches and players from the Globetrotters as well as their opponents, The Washington Generals.
The trick shots and “smack talk” throughout the game are amazing and incredibly funny! They always include the crowd in the jokes, storylines, questions, polls, whatever they are doing the audience is a part of it. Keeping my kiddos engaged and laughing is why we bring them back every year.
This year, we decided to get each of our kiddos an official Harlem Globetrotters basketball and then take them around to each player at the end of the game so they could get their signatures on the basketballs! They do not charge for this portion of the show. I think my boys enjoyed getting to meet the players more than the actual game! Real-life experiences are always a win in our household. I cannot wait to go back again next year!
