It’s been a while since I shared an amazing deal with you for 20% off your purchase of Globetrotters tickets, but one of the perks of sharing that deal meant that my family and I would receive tickets to the Harlem Globetrotter’s World Tour in Morgantown, West Virginia. This would be our second time seeing the Globetrotters live, and we couldn’t wait to watch the funniest basketball show in the country.
This year, the kids are a bit older and, they love exciting events like this one. On the night of the show, we headed to Morgantown and immediately got ready for a fun night out. We arrived at the show an hour early and there was so much entertainment on the court, that the kids didn’t even have time to get bored.
When the show finally started, it started out hilarious. We were laughing and enjoying ourselves. Unfortunately, as the show continued, it was disappointing. It became boring and the entertainment was barely funny.
There was one time when one player got out on the court and threw someone’s popcorn all over the place. With hunger on the rise, I do not find the wasting of food – especially $11 popcorn, funny.
There was even another time when one of the players grabbed a little girl’s sweater and took it on the field. He then proceeded to wipe himself with her sweater and it was, in my opinion, disgusting.
The Harlem Globetrotters are known to get the fans involved in the game. And, while they did do that unless you had the expensive seats on the court, there wasn’t even a chance for you or your family to get in on the excitement.
Finally, these shows are very expensive and of course, everything costs. There was one time when the Globetrotters invited the kids on the court to shoot some hoops and when they got to the field, they announced the kids had to have the special Globetrotter’s ball. Some of the kids had to go get the ball to shoot the hoop and when they came back and stood in line, they announced time’s up. While I understand the game has to be on a strict time schedule, this just seemed like a bait and switch. Have a bunch of kids go buy their basketball and then send them to their seats before they even get to use it…
The show ran for about an hour and a half and included a 30-minute meet and greet with the players. And, again, obviously, I know the player’s time is important, BUT a 30-minute meet and greet in a stadium full of people, haha! You’re better off to play the lottery than to try to get a meet and greet.
While the Harlem Globetrotter tour wasn’t all bad, I personally don’t care if I ever see another show. In my opinion, the show is more worried about the money than the true fans. The entertainment is lacking and the only basketball ‘tricks’ you may even see is their famous 4-point shot.
Needless to say, this show was not what any of us were expecting. It was boring and lacking to be the funniest basketball show of all-time.
While I wish I could say the Harlem Globetrotters World Tour was better, I would be doing you a disservice by lying to you. After all, tickets to a Harlem Globetrotters show cost well over $25 each and as parents, we cannot afford to waste hundreds of dollars on a worthless night.
The Harlem Globetrotters could benefit from a complete restructure, as this show once was actually the Funniest Basketball show. It has now become a money-gouging, overpriced, show.
