Hurds Family Farm in Modena, New York, is now top of our list for family fun in the Fall. In partnership with US Family Guide, we were invited to check out this Apple orchard and are so glad we did! Just an hour-ish north of Westchester is a farm filled with acres upon acres of Apples, pumpkins, a corn maze, a huge jumping pad, gem mining, hay rides, an outdoor play area with a GIANT slide and a petting zoo… let’s just say hours of entertainment for the entire family. Not just apple picking, you name it, they’ve thought of it!

The farm is extremely accommodating for families with small kids. There is parking on premise with just a short walk to the apples. The trees are low to the ground which makes it super easy & safe for all independent pre-school kids. Huge plus for us as we were able to just hand our Son (3yo) his own bag and let him do his thing. Even our 1 year old was able to grab some too with a little help. Little did we know, she is able to eat an entire apple (not peeled) on her own. Things you can learn while apple picking!

There are rows of apples you can pick from. Visiting in October gave us lots to choose from such as Red delicious, Gala, Crimson Crisp, Ruby Frost, Rome & Snap Dragon (my favorite) and lots more! You can either walk the farm or take a hay ride to the apple selection of your choice. But to put things into perspective, I was able to walk the entire time pushing a double stroller with ease. The Farm is just the right size with everything conveniently located.

Plan on making this a day trip and I would suggest purchasing a VIP band for only $15 to get the most for your money. Kids under three are free! The band includes access to a 2 Acre corn maze, mini ABC Corn Maze, Big Apple bounce (air pillow), Apple launcher, Cow train, Hay ride, Rubber ducky derby & a giant slide. Check their website to see what events are happening when you want to visit. Depending on the time of year they also have pony rides!

When the kids get hungry, they have picnic tables where you can either bring your own lunch or visit their Farm to table café. Fresh made cider donuts are a MUST! Hope you enjoy all that Hurds Family Farm has to offer!
