  •  LARGEST EASTER EGG HUNT IN SOUTH PHOENIX, HOSTED BY

THE SALVATION ARMY, RETURNS AFTER TWO-YEAR HIATUS

Hosted by The Salvation Army Kroc Center, free event includes arts and crafts, family games, music, food, and more

PHOENIX (March 9, 2022) – Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2022, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center Phoenix (Kroc Center) is inviting one and all to its 5th Annual Easter “Eggs”travaganza, including the largest Easter egg hunt in South Phoenix. The excitement begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16.

“We are beyond excited to bring this event back,” said Captain Caroline Rowe, Kroc Center Corps Officer. “The pandemic prevented us from holding the event the last two years, and I’m sure families will be busting at the seams to get back on the Kroc Center lawn to enjoy a day of family fun and fellowship.”

There will be three available egg hunt times on the outdoor fields of the Kroc Center on April 16 – 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. – and kids will be divided into three groups for each egg hunt: ages 3 and under, ages 4-7, and ages 8-11.

This free, fun-filled family event will include arts and crafts, family games, music, food trucks, inflatable bounce houses, an obstacle course, face painting, and dance performances, and community resource booths.

This year, for the first time, the Kroc Center will be offering a vendor village inside its gymnasium to support local community members and businesses. Vendor applications will be required. Those interested must register in advance by emailing Sonya Chavez, Events and Rentals Manager, at Sonya.Chavez@usw.salvationarmy.org.

The Kroc Center is also in need of monetary gifts and donations of plastic Easter eggs and candy for the event. Please contact the Kroc Center at 602-425-5000 or KrocPhoenix.org to donate.

    About The Kroc Center

Joan Kroc, wife of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, began a legacy of hope when she entrusted The Salvation Army with $1.5 billion to build community centers across the country. She dreamed of a network of “Kroc Centers,” each providing opportunities in arts, education and athletics for children, adults and families in underserved communities. These centers remove the financial, geographic and social barriers typically standing in the way of people realizing their full potential. Additionally, Mrs. Kroc envisioned these centers as bastions of peace, social justice and service to others. For more information, visit KrocPhoenix.org.

    About The Salvation Army

In 2021, The Salvation Army was ranked #2 on the list of “America’s Favorite Charities” by The Chronicle of Philanthropy. The Salvation Army aided more than 350,000 people in the Valley last year through a range of social services. By providing food for the hungry, shelter and clothing for the homeless, rent and utilities assistance, disaster and heat relief, senior activity and outreach, adult rehabilitation, opportunities for underprivileged children, holiday assistance, and emotional and spiritual support, The Salvation Army is doing the most good at more than 50 centers of operation across the state. Approximately 82 cents of every dollar donated to The Salvation Army are used to support its life-transforming social services.
