Nov. 16, 2020—Johnson City, TX—This Thanksgiving Week, the Science Mill is serving up science fun for the whole family! The nonprofit science museum will be open Thursday, Nov. 19-Sunday, Nov. 29, except for Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26). Find the full schedule of activities at sciencemill.org.
On Nov. 23, 24 and 25, the museum will be offering special “STEM-Giving” activity stations both outdoors and inside, with space to celebrate together safely. Visitors can step into a video game, race robots, try their hand at aero-gami (that’s paper airplane stunt flying), solve a scavenger hunt, meet reptiles, and enjoy a mini science movie marathon. All activities are included in the price of admission and tickets can be reserved online.
While closed for Thanksgiving Day, the Science Mill and its Science Store will be open Black Friday and over the weekend, with a special 15% discount on all purchases. The Science Store, which offers the Hill Country’s best selection of STEM toys, kits and books, is also online and can ship anywhere in the U.S.
“This year is an especially great year to shop at the Science Store,” says the Science Mill’s director of operations, Portia Marchman. “We have fantastic science gifts for a variety of ages and price points. Best of all, every purchase supports the Science Mill’s STEM programs for Texas youth and helps inspire the next generation of scientists.” The Science Mill’s education team has even selected some of their favorite toys, kits and books to inspire kids’ love of nature and wonder for the world around them; find their Science Outside Gift Guide on the museum’s website.
Starting Friday, Nov. 27, Science Mill visitors who stay past closing time at 5pm can also enjoy Lights Spectacular, a twinkling wonderland of two million lights throughout downtown Johnson City (Nov. 27-Jan. 3, 6pm-midnight; visit the event website for details).
The Science Mill is a family destination offering a fun, interactive learning environment for visitors of all ages. Through cutting-edge exhibits, games and programs, the non-profit science museum expands understanding and appreciation of science in everyday life. Housed in a historic 1880s mill, the Science Mill is located at 101 S. Lady Bird Lane in Johnson City, TX. Admission is $11 for adults (18-64), $9.50 for students (3-17 or with student ID), $9 for seniors (age 65+), free for 0-2, and half-price for active or retired military and up to three other family members with a valid military ID.
