FRANKENMUTH, Mich. -- Nov 9, 2020 – Today, the Bavarian Inn Zehnder family reveals Frankenmuth’s first set of electric vehicle charging stations just in time for the holiday shopping season. The charging stations are located on the north side of the Covered Bridge Shop at 775 S. Main next to the Bavarian Inn Restaurant.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Electric Vehicle Charging Station was attended by Frankenmuth city officials, members of the Bavarian Inn Zehnder family, and Gary Landless of Future Energy.
The Electric Vehicle Charging Station Initiative was a collaborative effort between the Bavarian Inn Corporation and Consumers Energy, which provided a grant to assist in funding the overall project. Installation of the electric vehicle charging stations was completed by Future Energy, a Michigan-based company using state-of-the-art energy solutions.
To date, this is the first and only set of electric vehicle charging stations in the greater Frankenmuth area. Two charging stations can charge a total of four electric vehicles at the same time.
The project enhances the many tourism-centered offerings of the Bavarian Inn Restaurant, Bavarian Inn Lodge, and Frankenmuth River Place Shops and provides a “Green Solution” to a rise in electric vehicle usage and environmental awareness.
“We are very excited to continue to provide our guests and visitors new offerings while contributing responsibly to protecting our environment.” said Michael Keller Zehnder, general manager at the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge.
Guests can safely and efficiently charge their electric vehicles for a minimal user fee using the convenient ChargePoint app or a credit card at the charging stations, located just off Main Street in Frankenmuth near the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. The charging stations are open 24 hours a day.
According to ChargePoint, the network has provided over 82 million charges and helped drivers save over 98 million gallons of gas globally.
Electric vehicle drivers are already taking notice of the charging stations. One reviewer celebrated the new addition to Frankenmuth and noted it was “great that the car can fill up on electrons while we fill up on chicken.”
Guests and visitors are invited to enjoy all the wonderful offerings Frankenmuth has to offer while charging their electric vehicles for the ride home.
