A few weeks ago, our “Party of Five” had the chance to attend The Harlem Globetrotters basketball game at Nassau Coliseum and it’s true: they are putting a new spin on family time!
If you have not attended a game, I highly suggest you go. The day was full of good, old-fashioned family fun. Jokes that were appropriate for all ages, tons of fun participation and songs that everyone knows and loves are just part of what you’ll encounter at this event.
The physical humor had the kids laughing out loud, and the crowd participation is what truly draws the audience into the show. If you have not done “the wave” in slow motion, well, it is something you have to see. Speaking of slow motion, the “reverse play” is my favorite part of the show- these performers are unique and talented.
When the opposing team, The Generals, steps onto the court to face the Globetrotters, you can tell the crazy times are about to begin! From choreographed moves, to a moment where one player stands ON TOP of the basketball hoop, the game is surprising and entertaining for all. Side note: Charlie’s jaw dropped to the floor when this guy stepped onto the hoop.
In addition to the moments of dancing, standing on hoops, and general fun mayhem, our family’s favorite moment was the half time portion when all of the kids are called to get on the court and practice their dribbling skills! Check out the Harlem Globetrotters Travel schedule because they are sure to be in your neck of the woods soon!
