This 8-pc. BPA food storage set from Ozeri is everything! I pack my lunch daily, so I'm always on the lookout for containers that will travel well and keep my food fresh. This Instavac food storage container set works well for that task. It also works great when it comes to keeping my fruit and/or produce fresh, as well as helping to make sure my leftovers last more than a day. The Instavac system has a patented valve that removes excess air and pressure. That means naturally occurring bacteria is less likely to cause the food to spoil quickly, because air can't get in! It also means foods are less likely to spill when you open or microwave them in the container, because there is no pressure to relieve.
Each of these BPA-free plastic containers comes with a tight fitting patented lid, and they all stack together very nicely, nesting in fact, which makes them easy to store.
This time of year it's hard for me to find fresh strawberries in the store. When I do, they seem to get black spots on them overnight! Now I just put those berries in one of my Ozeri Instavac containers and they last a lot longer! Can I get a big hurray?!
While we're talking about fruit, let me note too that there are ridges on the bottom of each bowl. That keeps juicy items lifted, like pineapple, helping you to avoid soggy, mushy messes!
The lids have a handy date dial on them, so you can keep track of when your food was first stored. Awesome, right??? I've never seen that on a container. It sure beats masking tape (to label it) or nothing, which leads to waster faster than anything else because we're hesitant to eat something if we can't remember exactly when we first stored it.
These containers are freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. They're also very clear, which is unusual for plastic. You can see right through them to easily determine what's inside.
Today I've already sliced my mangoes and put them inside of the smallest container. Of course, I don't usually set a full container inside of empty ones, but I wanted you to see how easily they nest.
Now I'm about to wash my blueberries and put them in a separate container. If I prep my fruits ahead of time, it makes it so easy to whip up a smoothie whenever we're in the mood for one. I also use these for snacking (the hummus in the background wouldn't go with the fruit, lol, I just had it on the counter because I was prepping more than one thing). The hummus could go in a larger dish though, alongside some crackers or pretzels, to bring out for afternoon snacks when the kids get home from school. Having healthier snack options already prepared and visible in the refrigerator keeps them from seeking out items like potato chips, cakes, cookies, etc. You know the first place they go every single time they walk in the door, is the refrigerator. How do you know? Because it's a universal 'kid law' and 'kids' never seem to outgrow it. All of my grown kids walk to the kitchen when they arrive to visit too (after they kiss mom hello, of course). ;)
